"It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better." -  John Ruskin 1819-1900

Photo of the Week 83: USNS Montford Point - Ocean Shipholdings Inc. (OSI)

General Steamship is proud to represent OSI and the U.S. Navy!

Our Portland office has been working with this vessel in the Vigor Shipyard for several months while final preparations are made for her to go fully operational. She is a 75,371 DWT Mobile Landing Platform (MLP) vessel, which is used for staging Naval and Marine Corps equipment at sea. The vessel is named in honor of African American Marine Corps troops who trained at Montford Point Camp, North Carolina from 1942-1949.
